Flat prairie clay can drain slowly, and seasonal frost movement may leave landscape surfaces uneven. Keep site drainage and rough shaping separate from the final growing layer. Top Soil is intended for the finished surface of planned lawn work, planted borders, and garden areas after the ground has been prepared for its purpose.
The screened material is smooth to spread and grade, with rock, debris, and large clumps removed. For a yard beside a completed shed pad, bring the surrounding planting area to its intended shape before placing Top Soil. Then grade the material evenly and plant into the finished surface. This gives new turf or other plantings a clean layer without asking the growing material to solve underlying clay drainage.

Common Uses
Starting & Repairing Lawns
Use topsoil when installing sod, filling sparse turf with seed, or bringing sunken areas back to grade. A 2-4 inch layer gives grass roots room to take hold and develop dense, green growth.
Raised Beds & Garden Plots
For raised planters and garden areas, use screened topsoil as a workable base for growing vegetables, herbs, or flowers. Its texture makes spreading and planting easier while supporting early root growth.
Site Grading
Bring low areas up, smooth uneven ground, and form drainage slopes around foundations and structures. Topsoil settles lightly while still letting moisture pass through.
Trees & Shrubs
Mix topsoil into native ground when you install trees and shrubs. This helps improve soil structure as plants become established in their early growth period.
Why Choose Top Soil
Growing Medium
Topsoil creates a balanced base for turf, gardens, and decorative plantings. Its structure helps roots develop and plants become established.
Screened & Clean
Rocks, roots, and other debris are removed from the topsoil through mechanical screening. The result is an even material you can distribute and shape with less effort.
Versatile Application
Use topsoil for home garden work or larger commercial jobs. It suits a broad range of planting and soil needs.
Bulk Coverage
For large areas, bulk topsoil can cost less than bagged material. It provides broad coverage with delivery to your property.
