Beneath a paver area, shed pad, or farm lane, CA-6 provides the packed working layer that supports the project above it. Illinois prairie clay can retain water, and northern frost movement can expose weak preparation quickly. The material is suited to work that needs dependable bearing capacity under regular vehicles or equipment.
CA-6 contains crushed aggregate with a range of particle material, including fines that settle into open spaces during compaction. Place it over prepared subgrade and compact it before installing the finished surface. On clay ground, that preparation helps the base stay closely packed instead of allowing traffic to push unevenness up toward the driveway or pad.

Common Uses
Road & Highway Construction
For road and highway work, road base sits below asphalt or concrete to support the pavement structure. It spreads vehicle loading over the subgrade, an important consideration where deep frost and freeze-thaw cycling affect the ground.
Driveways for Heavy Use
Driveways carrying heavy trucks, equipment trailers, or regular commercial traffic need the added support of road base. A prepared base helps resist rutting and breakdown under demanding loads.
Jobsite Access Roads
Road base can be placed for either temporary or permanent construction-site routes. It supports heavy equipment and provides a firm surface in wet conditions, helping work continue through changing weather.
Commercial Parking & Loading Areas
Place road base below commercial parking areas, loading docks, and industrial yards that handle routine use by heavy vehicles and equipment.
Why Choose CA-6
Maximum Load Capacity
Road base is intended for high-load use, including industrial equipment and fully loaded dump trucks. When compacted, it distributes weight across the surface and helps reduce point-load failure.
Base Course Aggregate
Select road base according to the depth and compaction needs of your project.
Performance in Changing Weather
Installed and compacted correctly, road base retains its structure during wet, dry, and freeze-thaw weather. Dense compaction reduces water intrusion that may soften and damage less substantial materials.
Cost-Effective for Large Areas
Road base provides commercial-grade support at a fraction of the cost of paved surfaces. For larger access roads, parking areas, and work yards, it offers strength with manageable material costs.
